Somerleigh Court Nursing Home - in the heart of Dorchester
The nursing home at Somerleigh Court is centrally located in the heart of Dorchester close to shops and amenities and GP practice.
It is a carefully designed new home on three floors with 40 individually designed good-sized rooms with en suite facilities.
There is a large lounge and dining room on each floor and a central kitchenette for the use of all residents.
Care for each resident is made in a friendly and skilled way by a professional and enthusiastic staff team. It is also a is safe, friendly and secure environment and considerable attention has been paid to the interior design and finishes in order to create the sense of home for our residents.
We are committed to offering a safe, comfortable and friendly home to give our residents a sense of well-being and contentment.
We help them to enjoy the best quality of life, which their individual circumstances allow and our whole approach is focused on fulfilling these aspirations. We aim to build our routines around the needs of our residents.
Each resident is seen as an individual with a distinctive personality and character. Our residents are treated with dignity at all times sometimes in undignified circumstances.
A sense of independence is recognized and cultivated and the pursuit of suitable hobbies and interests is encouraged, as they can be so therapeutic.
We support a service user's inclination to participate in appropriate group activities, but also always respect a desire for privacy.
Ongoing links with family and friends outside the Home are actively encouraged and supported.
The Home provides continuing care and accommodation in 40 single rooms for both men and women who are 65 years old and above.
25 of these are for general individual nursing care, and 15 of these are for service users with dementia who are confused (where the service user is not safe to live alone in the community) or those with dementia which may be described as a general decline in mental ability and/or loss of personhood.
At Somerleigh Court, we have the needs of potential residents thoroughly assessed by a Trained Nurse before admission to our Home. This is intended to provide each person and/or relative/friend or other representative with the best possible information on which to make an informed choice about their future.
